Papain, the enzyme from papaya, digests dead surface cells rather than scrubbing them off. It stays a powder until you add water, so there’s no preservative sitting in a wet formula and no grit dragging across your face. Skin feels smoother after one use and makeup sits better the next day.

How to use: tip a small amount into damp palms, add water, work to a light foam, massage, rinse. Two or three times a week to start.

Good to know: the one for skin that’s dull and rough but too reactive for acids.
